Biography

The Fashion Group was conceived in 1928 when Edna Woolman Chase, Editor-in-Chief of Vogue Magazine, invited a group of women in the fashion industry to lunch. Two years later, The Fashion Group was formed. The organization's first office was on East 12th street and was donated by Louis Fairchild in his Women’s Wear Daily building. The Fashion Group's mission is "To promote educational programs devoted to fashion and to the study of fashion related businesses through the creation and awarding of scholarships; establishment of internship programs; provision of career counseling services." Today, there are roughly 5000 members, both men and women, from all over the world.
