Biography

Tom Drew is an alumnus of the Fashion Institute of Technology, class of 1949. In 1958, he was awarded a bronze “Oscar”, by FIT, for his contributions to the fashion industry throughout that year. At the time of the award, Mr. Drew was designing for College Town, a manufacturer of Women’s Sportswear. Eventually, he left College Town to design for Toby Tanner, a division of the Tanner of North Carolina dress manufacturers. Toby Tanner is known for its early 1970’s ad campaign featuring the slogan ‘Toby is a lady.” "An FIT alumnus, Drew was awarded a bronze "Oscar" in 1958 for his contributions to the fashion industry."
