Biography
Bugnand was chief designer for Jacques Heim and Robert Piquet before opening his own couture workroom in Paris. He opened a salon in New York in the late 1950's but had his dresses made in his Paris workshops. He became a member of the haute couture Chambre Syndicale in 1960. His creations were worn by the Duchess of Windsor, Babe Paley, and Jacqueline Kennedy, among others. Later in career he designed evening and cocktail dresses for wholesale dress manufacturer Sam Friedlander.
