Biography
Née Nicole Emmerich in Frankfurt, Germany in 1927, the Emmerich family fled Nazi Germany in 1931 via Amsterdam before settling in New York City. After Emmerich's graduation from Oberlin College with a degree in English, she trained at Bloomingdale's and worked as a Junior Editor for the Tobé Report. In 1950, she married William "Bill" Teweles and the couple eventually relocated long-term to Milwaukee, MN where they were prominent members of the Jewish community and noted art collectors. (Nicole's brother was the noted New York art dealer André Emmerich.)
