Biography
Ferdinando Sarmi was born into a wealthy Italian family in 1912. He was head designer for Elizabeth Arden and opened his own ready-to-wear salon in New York in 1959. His use of fresh and unexpected color, intricate embroideries, and racy hemlines were cited his Coty award win in 1960.
