Biography
Hanae Mori was born in Japan in 1926. She enrolled in dressmaking school where she developed the skills to establish her first shop in Tokyo in 1951. Her career began as a designer of film costumes in Japan and she eventually entered the American market where her business began its steady growth. Mori is known as Japan's first internationally known designer and the first Asian woman to be admitted as an official haute couture design house.
