Women's wear window displays, circa 1930 - early 1940s

 File — Box: 3, Folder: 1

Scope and Contents

The dates of the display photographs in this folder are approximate, as the vast majority of the prints are undated. While the majority of the items on display are women's wear, there is some men's wear, hats, shoes, furniture and textile yardage shown as part of particular displays; some prints are duplicated in the folder. Many of photos are credited Worsinger Photo; other named credits include Virginia Roehl and John Adams Davis. One image shows a man identified as Lester Gaba with a couple of his custom made mannequins, (one named "Cynthia"); others show women's college fashions with backdrops including Vassar and Mount Holyoke, and a Pan American Airways branded portable staircase with mannequin travellers" on their way to Nassau.

One print found in this folder had a handwritten note that it was B. Altman, but the window display itself had a label underneath that read Lord and Taylor. So this print was moved to SC.309 Window display photographs (general).
