Scope and Contents

In this interview, Berr discusses her early ambitions of becoming a model, becoming a model at age 15, and working as a professional model in New York and Paris. Berr's career ranges from roughly 1963 through 1975, and in this interview, Berr speaks to the working conditions she faced in a time when models were expected to do most of the work to prepare themselves for a photoshoot. Berr reflects on her high and low moments as a model and talks about the self-motivated determination she believes a model should have to make it in the industry.

Susan Berr was an American fashion model represented during the 1960s and 1970s by Ford Models and appeared in print campaigns as the face of Breck shampoo. Berr now lives and works in Los Angeles as an interior designer going by Susan Sager.

As the Co-Director for IconicFocus and IconicFocus Models, Patty Sicular “has navigated her way throughout the fashion world, working with some of the best and brightest artists in the industry. In 1980 she joined Ford Model Agency working closely with agency founders Eileen and Gerard W. “Jerry” Ford. During her nearly 30 year tenure, Sicular worked concurrently at Ford Men (1980-1983), Ford Women’s High Board (1984-1985) and Ford II, Classic, Plus, Parts, and Archives (1986-2010).”…”In 1995, Sicular was made a Vice President [of Ford Models] where she held the role for fifteen years. Her proficiency in fashion history extended far beyond the world of modeling. Sicular has been involved in numerous exhibitions honoring fashion photography and design.”
