Scope and Contents

This folder contains 15 undated original color and black and white sketches of women's wear. There is little annotation on these aside from numbers, presumably related to the dress model. There are also 7 painted renderings on board of women's formal and holiday gowns, signed by Sandler and dated 1958-1962; on the reverse are handwritten notes including the seasons they were shown, and one from 1961 includes a note that Sandler won an award that year. Many of these drawings on board also have the name James Daugherty written on the face.

Biographical / Historical

A native New Yorker, Sandler studied at the Fashion Institute of Technology and held several freelance positions before joining Highlight, Inc., a dress design firm. He eventually changed the firm to Pat Sandler, Inc. and focused on moderately-priced up-to-the-minute fashions.
