This folder contains the original program booklet from the inaugural dinner of the American Council of Dress Manufacturers, held at the Hotel Astor on Dec 9 1942. Inside is an essay titled "Open Letter to Every Dress Manufacturer in the City of New York" written by Vlock (Council Chairman) advocating for the creation of a school of fashion and costume design (which will become FIT), followed by printed endorsements from New York State's Executive Chamber, Women's Wear Daily, major department stores such as Saks Fifth Avenue and Bonwit Teller, and numerous manufacturers from across the industry; there are also printed portraits of Sylvan Gotshal, special council, as well as a loose portrait of Sydney Vlock.

Other items in the folder are all black and white photocopies: copy of a US patent for a women's suit designed by Sidney Vlock dated Feb 21 1935; and copies of press clippings on Vlock and the Fashion Institute of Technology from various newspapers and other publications, all but one circa 1942 (the other is from the NY Times Nov 1949 discussing plans for expanding FIT into a full four-year college).
