Scope and Contents

This collection documents Steven Cutting's design career, from his earliest drawings as a teenager with an interest in fashion design, through his outerwear design work for Kenneth Cole, Perry Ellis America and other brands and creation of Studio Cutting, to more current design projects and time as FIT faculty. Material includes sketchbooks and loose drawings, FIT student work and awards, press and look books, photographs, technical production drawings and product specification documentation, and correspondence.

Cutting's original organization of the material is reflected in the foldering and titles. In some cases, his handwritten labels were also retained with the material; in other cases, when Cutting's handwritten note was removed, the content of his label is reflected in the title, date and/or scope and contents note of the folder.
