Scope and Contents

This collection holds approximately 400 photographic prints, mostly black and white, depicting the store window displays of Lord & Taylor designed by John Castagna. Various photographers and photo studios are stamped on backs of photos. Most photos show ID numbers and dates. Donor Mr. Strangi stated that artist Dennis Abby was responsible for some backdrops painting in window displays.

Scope and Contents This collection contains a wide variey of materials documenting the career of Simon Robert Newey. His work as a window dresser and display artist is documented by a series of black & white as well as color photographs. Promotional materials for the Zoli Modeling agency inform his work in the modeling and entertainment industry as both an agent and actor. Includes the papers and presentation delivered at the 2017 Symposium "Dressing New York" on Saturday, May 13, 2017. The names of the presenters and the title of their presentations contained in this folder are: Nancy MacDonell "'A Good Designer Need Not Breathe the Air of Paris.' This series is comprised of photographs of Newey's work as a window dresser and display artist for various department stores and professional display companies.
