'Fete Francaise' France promotional campaign, Sep - Oct 1959

 File — Box: 4, Folder: 5

Scope and Contents

This folder contains black and white and color photographs of in-store and window displays that were part of the Fete Francaise promotion, plus some more distant street photographs of the facade of B. Altman. The displays featured clothing from designers such as Chanel, housewares, tableware, fabrics and decorative objects either from or inspired by France and French culture. The color photographs were published in Views and Reviews and indicate that the display director was Anton Heller.

In addition to the photographs, there are also three documents in this folder: a brochure titled "France: free display aids" published by the French Government Tourist Office, a promotional newspaper titled "Paris News: B. Altman and Co." announcing the events surrounding the Fete Francaise, and a full issue of the newspaper "France-Amerique", a French-language journal for French people living in the USA, from Oct 11 1959.
