Volume 3: Women's wear and WAVES uniform designs, 1941 - 1942

Volume 3 contains mostly coverage from 1941 and 1942 but also includes miscellaneous articles from 1943, 1947 and 1955. In addition to clippings about his biannual collections and 1942 designs for the Waves, it includes articles on clothing he designed for Wallis Simpson, the Duchess of Windsor; his appointment as head designer for Twentieth-Century Fox Studios in September 1942; and Spanish coverage from publications out of Buenos Aires.

Loose press clippings include press publication lists; a full issue of the Smith Alumnae Quarterly from Nov 1942 including articles about WAVES recruitment on campus; a pamphlet issued by the Navy titled "How to serve your country in the WAVES or SPARS"; an article from the Boston Post titled "Thrilling show by Mainbocher" dated Sep 8 1947; an article "American dress design for American women by American women" by Mary Brooks Picken from the Journal of Home Economics dated Oct 1941; an article from Parade magazine about famous WAVES and WAVE etiquette dated Jan 24 194_; and an interview with Mainbocher from Woman's Home Companion dated Jan 1955.

This scrapbook also includes many photographic prints related to Mainbocher's uniform designs, most loose but some still attached to scrapbook pages.
