Biographical / Historical

Laura Johnson Mitchell, (circa 1895-1978) was a cartoonist and commercial fashion illustrator, best known for illustrating the fashion-themed syndicated comic strip Modish Mitzi, (1923- circa 1945), created under the collective pseudonym "Jay V. Jay " with writing by Virginia Vincent and Jeanette Kiekenveld. Her commercial fashion illustration work spans from the 1940s to the 1960s.
