Lillian Farley papers
Scope and Contents
This collection consists of materials assembled by Lillian Farley, also known as Dinarzade, during her lifetime. Included are newspaper clippings, photographs, printed materials, and an unpublished manuscript of her memoir. The majority of the items are photographic and relate to her career as a fashion model (referred to as a mannequin) and actress. Additionally, the collection features items related to her family and friends, many of whom were distinguished artists, photographers, and writers in the early twentieth century. The photographs are extensively annotated—most likely by Ms. Farley herself—with details such as names, locations, and dates. These primary source materials are connected to the Modernist fashion movement and illustrate Farley's associations within the fields of fashion, Vaudeville, and visual art. The collection is particularly notable for her longstanding relationship with Lucile, Ltd.

Arrangement
This collection has been arranged according to the original order created by Lillian Farley's albums of photographs, clippings, and other printed materials. Materials initially bound in either scrapbooks or photograph albums have been disbound, the materials placed in separate folders. Most of these albums were not titled by Farley in any way, so the various folder names have been archivist derived, including the album numbers.
