Kay Bell photographs

Kay Bell was a well-known fashion photographer whose work appeared in Vogue among other publications in the 1950s and 1960s. These two prints have no notation as to where or when they were published; one depicts a woman in a short striped dress with a belt and sandals on a beach, and the other depicts a Scandinavian-type scene with a blonde woman wearing a plaid dress riding a bicycle in the mountains.

Scope and Contents The collection consists of two folders of material, primarily photographs and correspondence collected by Mark Mooring.The first folder contains correspondence ranging in date from 1923 through 1959. Also included are several undated letters, a newspaper clipping and an invitation to the Fifth Annual American Fashion Critics’ Award ceremony. Pat Sandler sketches

There is little annotation on these aside from numbers, presumably related to the dress model. There are also 7 painted renderings on board of women's formal and holiday gowns, signed by Sandler and dated 1958-1962; on the reverse are handwritten notes including the seasons they were shown, and one from 1961 includes a note that Sandler won an award that year.
