(1949 - 1956) Includes sub headings Clarence Brown, Cone Mills, Fortune Magazine, Good Housekeeping, My Operation, Coordination of Colors and Patterns, Sources for Color and Styling, and Time Magazine. 2. Later Career (1960 - 1965) Includes sub headings Betty Willis, American Craftsman's Council, Levi STrauss, Getting Fabrics for Designers/The Queen's Shop/Fortuny, and On Being a Woman in Business. Additional document copies interleaved (most with a handwritten label indicating how they are relevant) price and expenses lists, contracts with clients such as Cone Mills, business records, press releases, correspondence (with Raymond Baldwin, various clients and potential clients, mills Shannon worked with, and personal), and copies of transcripts from lectures Shannon gave. The contents of this box describe in detail how Shannon worked with Cone Mills and others to develop and market prints and other innovations in denim and cotton canvas textiles.
